A kids ATV is a great way to let your child explore the great outdoors. If you have one, but are unsure which model or brand is best for them, this article will help you decide.

Kids ATVs are becoming more popular and there are many different models available in the market today. So it’s important that before buying one, you do some research and find out what features are most important for your child.

Here’s our list of top five kids ATVs with the most options to choose from for both adults and children. If you have any questions about these ATVs, feel free to ask below!

Kawasaki KZ400 ABS

This is the cheapest kids ATV on the market today. It’s also known as a ‘dirt bike’ because of its off-road capabilities – perfect if you’re looking to let your child get their feet wet in dirt riding first.

The ABS (Anti-lock braking system) is the feature you should look for here. This makes sure your child doesn’t lose control while going down hills and around corners. It also means they won’t crash into things when they’re riding too fast. The engine has a low RPM making it easier for younger riders to handle.

There is a lot of space inside for storage and the seat can be removed for easy transportation. For safety reasons, the seat comes with an airbag.

For younger kids, the Kawasaki KZ400 has adjustable speed limits so parents can ensure their child stays within safe boundaries.

Harley Davidson Sportster 1000

If you want something a little bit bigger than the Kawasaki above, the Harley Davidson Sportster 1000 is the perfect choice.

It’s got a larger engine than the Kawasaki and has three wheels instead of two. The sportster stands at 6’5″ tall and weighs around 300 pounds.

The suspension is a bit softer than the previous option, so it’ll ride a little smoother over bumps. But it still has lots of power to propel it forward over jumps and through obstacles. It has a built-in shock absorber so it can handle large and small dips in the road without buckling.

With all the safety features mentioned above and a built-in horn, it’s probably the safest model on the market. The seats have thick padding and armrests to keep kids comfortable during long rides.

Best for older kids

You might also consider the Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 for older kids who are ready for bigger adventures. It has four wheels instead of three and allows an adult to sit on the backseat for added safety. It has a wider seating area with plenty of room for kids and adults to sit comfortably.

Other options

Harley Davidson offers other variants in the line such as the Sportster 900, 1000, 1300 and 1750. All of these have similar features but differ in size and price. You can check them all out on their website.

Yamaha YF-SX450R

Another dirt bike option, the Yamaha YF-SX450R is a good choice if you want something smaller and cheaper. It’s also much lighter than the Sportster so it feels less cumbersome when transporting.

The engine is powerful enough to propel it up to 20 miles per hour over rough terrain. There are no airbags but the suspension is made of soft foam so the bike rides over bumps smoothly. Safety features include a horn and a rearview camera.

Parents can place a foot rest behind the driver in order to give their kids more legroom. It comes with a built-in cup holder and the seats are padded for comfort.

Yamaha also has bikes in the YF-SX500R and YF-SX700R series.

Honda CRF250L

The Honda CRF250L is a great choice if you want something with a little more luxury. It’s a step up from the other models mentioned above and is designed to take on trails and rocky roads.

The suspension is firm and the engine is powerful. On the downside, the seat isn’t removable, so it can be difficult to carry it around if you’re planning on taking it on family trips.

The bike does come with a kickstand so it’s easier to park it somewhere. The seat is very wide and includes a passenger side shield to protect the rider from rocks thrown by the front wheel.

Safety features include a horn and a rearview mirror. And if you need a little extra help with steering, the bike comes with a hand brake lever so you don’t have to use your legs.

Best for older kids

The Honda CRF300L is a good choice if you want something a little bit bigger. It has similar features to the 250L but is a little safer having more ground clearance.

Other options

The Honda CRF125L and CRF150L are also available but they are not as big as the others listed here. They’re ideal for new riders and beginners.

Suzuki RM250

The Suzuki RM250 is one of the smallest ATVs on this list. It’s perfect for younger riders who just want to play outside for a few hours.

The engine is loud and strong, so it’s perfect for jumping over logs and over obstacles. There’s also a built-in shock absorber in case your child hits a bump too hard.

It has a low RPM so younger riders can steer the bike easily. But it does come with a brake light so parents can easily see where the kid is in traffic.

There is a horn for drivers and a rear view camera for passengers. The seats are not padded, so they’re uncomfortable for longer rides. But they’re removable so they can be transported easily.

Best for younger kids

The Suzuki RM125 is another great choice if you’re looking to introduce your child to the world of ATVs. It has the same features as listed above but is a little smaller and lighter.

Other options

There are several other models in the line such as the RM175, RM225 and RM300. These are mainly geared towards people who already own motorcycles.
