How To Setup Audiocodes Mediant
AudioCodes Mediant is an audio interface for the Apple iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. It’s a breakout box that allows you to connect your favorite microphones, headphones, and other audio devices to an iOS device. The interface also lets you connect your own audio source such as a pair of wireless mics or even a guitar amp.
The main feature of this breakout is its ability to work with almost any audio source. You can use it with most types of hardware including microphones, guitars (either plugged into an amplifier or using pedals), synthesizers, computers, CD players, turntables, and more!
It has built-in XLR microphone inputs, high impedance headphone outputs, stereo headphone jack output, and a 1/4 inch TRS input for connecting external microphones. On top of that, there are 6 phantom power outlets available so you can plug in all kinds of devices like guitars, keyboards, mixers, drum machines, etc.
In addition, Mediant provides MIDI In/Out, XLR In/Out, and 3.5mm jack port connections. If you have a keyboard, drum machine, or another piece of equipment that needs to be connected via MIDI, then Mediant will allow you to do that too. There is also a USB port on the back side of the breakout.
Since this is an audio interface, the interface comes with two additional cables; one is a 1/8″ TRS cable that connects the audio interface to your speakers and other audio sources, and the second is a 1/4″ TRS cable that connects the audio interface to your iOS device. These cables are both included in the package if you decide to buy AudioCodes Mediant. You can buy AudioCodes Mediant 2600 as it fit your preference the best.
The first thing you need to know about Mediant is that it requires an iOS device running iOS 5.1 or later. The iPad 2, third generation iPod touch, and the fourth generation iPhone are all supported by Mediant. It is not compatible with previous versions of the iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch.
You can download the latest version of AudioCodes Mediant from their website. Once you’ve downloaded the app, follow these steps to get started:
Plug in the breakout box to your computer using a USB cord. This should automatically detect the breakout. You may see a message asking you if you want to use the default settings. Answer “yes”. If you don’t, then select “No”, and enter your model number manually in the search field instead.
Download the AudioCodes Mediant App from the App Store. Make sure to check for any updates before installing the app, otherwise, you may end up downloading outdated files.
Setup
For best results, it is recommended that you perform initial setup using your desktop computer. For example, you might want to make sure that your sound card or onboard audio chip is working properly before setting up Mediant. If you’re having problems with the startup process, make sure you check out our article on how to fix startup errors.
Once you’ve successfully installed AudioCodes Mediant, start the app and click on the “Add Device” button. Select “iPad” or “iPhone” depending on which type of device you plan to use as your primary audio source. When prompted, choose the right serial number to identify your particular device. You’ll see a list of models that are supported at the bottom of the page. If you’re unable to find your device on the list, then try searching for the name of your device using the search bar.
Next, choose “Audio Input” and select the correct microphone or sound source. Make sure to select the corresponding port on the right side of the screen. To connect a different microphone, just repeat these steps again. Your audio input should now appear on the left side of the page.
Using AudioCodes Mediant
There are many ways to control a variety of audio sources with Mediant. However, in order for your iOS device to hear whatever you play through Mediant, you must first enable the audio input for your device. Follow the instructions below to achieve this:
- Click on the speaker icon located next to the input you wish to monitor.
- You can either click on the volume slider to increase the volume level or turn on the switch located under the volume display.
- Now that your audio is enabled, you can use the app as a standard audio player. Just click on the Play button, select the track you want to listen to, and enjoy!
If you’d like to tweak some settings, simply click on the gear icon that appears when you hover over the playback button. From here, you can adjust things like the volume level, the equalizer settings, and more. You can also use the EQ buttons to add effects like reverb, chorus, delay, etc.
To stop the music, just tap the pause button. When you’re done listening, hit the End button and everything will go away.
If you would rather enjoy music while playing games, then you can plug in your controller to Mediant. This will give you full access to the controls and functions of your game console. There are no restrictions to what kind of controllers you can connect to the interface. As long as they provide enough inputs, Mediant will work with them. For example, if you have a Playstation3, XBox360, Wii, etc., then you can easily hook up those controllers and enjoy your favorite games without ever taking your eyes off the screen.
Mediant Accessories
While you can plug in just about anything that uses a 1/8th inch TRS connector, most people are going to want to make sure that they have some accessories ready in case they forget something or run out of connectors.
To help you keep track of the various cables you need, Mediant includes a handy cable management system. This allows you to organize all of your cables inside a small compartment that’s attached to the audio interface itself.
If you are planning to purchase a few extra accessories, then you can browse the selection provided by AudioCodes Mediant. Their selection of products include a variety of cables, adapters, and other useful accessories.
